Summer Activities
The Courchevel area offers a huge range of activities
in the summer to suite all needs from adrenaline-pumping hydro-surfing
to relaxing mountain strolls. As part of your booking, Skivolution
will work with you to put together an activity plan for your holiday
to ensure you make the most of your time here.
Leisure Pass. This pass allows
access to the following facilities in Courchevel: swimming pool,
ice rink (skates included), tennis courts (two hours per week at
off peak times) plus ski lifts for the 3 Vallees! Typical cost:
5-day adult pass 32
Mountain Biking. Courchevel is
recognised officially as a Mountain Bike Centre and offers 600km
of marked paths split into 16 downhill circuits accessible via ski
lifts and 13 x-country circuits. If you are a serious MTB rider
or simply exploring the mountains the terrain couldn't be better.
Routes are graded as with winter slopes so there's plenty to offer
everyone from beginners to experts. Typical cost: 1-day lift pass
15e, 7-day lift pass 36e, 1-day bike rental 30e
Mountain Hiking. There are literally
miles and miles of tracks around the local mountains, enabling you
to explore places not accessible during the winter months (such
as the impressive Dent du Villard) and experience some breathtaking
views. We offer a packed-lunch service for those wanting to spend
the entire day exploring! Typical cost: Free (excluding packed-lunch!)
Golf. There is a 9 hole golf course
in Courchevel and an 18 hole (par 71) course in Meribel.
Road cycling. The national sport
in France and this area is a mecca for both the competitive and
touring cyclist. Surrounded by the mythical cols often seen in the
Tour de France - a day trip could take you to the Col de Madeleine,
Col d'Isère or the brutal Col de Galiber. However you do
not need to climb huge mountains, the valley riding is beautiful,
on superb roads, where car drivers respect you.
Hydrospeeding. This adrenaline-pumping
sport involves wearing a padded wetsuit and flippers, jumping into
a local river and navigating the river's rapids (along with your
friends and a guide, of course!). Typical cost: 45e
Canyoning. Another sport for the
adventurous: you'll ride down the river, land in pools, slide and
slip over toboggans and abseil down cascades and falls. Canyoning
is fun and athletic and can be shared with friends and family from
8 years old. Typical cost: 40e
Base de Loisirs. This is the French
for Leisure Base, one of our local ones being by Aime (about a 25
minute drive from Le Praz). There are numerous public BBQ's available,
a swimming lake and a long cycling and running track along the valley.
Great for a relaxed day out! Typical cost: Free
Via Ferrata. Basically rock climbing
along a guided route, there are several options available including
an unusual itinerary overhanging the Rosiere lake. The climb takes
2 hours and covers a distance of 550m of cables and 2 monkey bridges.
Typical cost: 30e
Italian Day Trip. From Courchevel
you can take the valley road to Bourg-St-Maurice and then drive
over the Col du Petit St Bernard into Italy. This route is inaccessible
during the winter (being covered in deep snow and skiers!) and offers
amazing views. La Thuile, the first village once over the Italian
boarder, is a great place to stop and have lunch. Other day trip
options include Turin (90 minutes drive) or a circular tour of some
Alpine resorts. Typical cost: £30 for the minibus and driver.
Annecy Day Trip. As many of you
will have seen on your winter holiday airport transfers, Annecy
and its lake offer some stunning views. Only seventy-five minutes
away, the day can be spent exploring the beautiful city centre or
checking out the lake's various water sports (sailing, wakeboarding,
pedelos etc.
