La Grave performance course 2009 -
wk comm Apr 18
The Course
Set
on an awe inspiring mountain this is not for the easily scared,
sweeping glaciers and long couloirs make for adventurous and exciting
skiing. Imagine Courchevel unpisted and untracked, but with steeper
couloirs and surrounded by rugged mountains - then you get an idea
of the scope of this ski domain. It has 2100 vertical metres of
off-piste!!
The coaching will take place all day everyday during
your stay. The on hill technical instruction will maintain the high
quality we strive for and will include Avalanche Transceiver training.
Although safety is paramount we will ensure that you enjoy your
“La Grave Experience”. We will also ski in the resort
of Deux Alpes which is 25 minutes away by car or an easy ski over
the back of La Grave summit - this also provides us with a foul
weather option.
Minimum level: Enjoy being challenged and at ease
in off-piste/all mountain terrain.
Cost £550 – includes all day
coaching for 5 days and half board accommodation for 7 nights
The resort
La Grave is beautifully situated at the bottom
of La Meije. La Meije was one of the last major peaks to be scaled
in Europe and at 3951 metres it is an imposing sight. It has 2150
vertical metres of off piste skiing and the size of the domain is
similar to an unpisted, untracked Courchevel. Access to the mountain
is by a two stage cable car which is an experience in itself. The
village of La Grave has a variety of shops and restaurants with
a very laid back unpretentious feel.
The accommodation
Based at the lovely Hotel
Edelweiss, this will be our third trip to this amazing
resort. The village has a variety of shops and restaurants and has
a refreshingly laid back and unpretentious feel to it. Robin Kinnaird
will run this trip for the third successive year with the focus
firmly on your off-piste and steep terrain skiing.
